Akiya restoration — minka in four typologies

A minka is cured by the smoke of being lived in.

Ibushi — Akiya restoration — minka in four typologies, Hida, Gifu

What it is

Ibushi is akiya restoration — minka in four typologies, set in Hida, Gifu, Japan. It was built as a complete world rather than a page: a name, a history, a material system, a vocabulary, a photographic language, and a reason to exist — then the site that world would have made for itself.

The light it lives in

It belongs to the Aubade register: daylight, hospitality, inhabited rooms, restorative warmth. That decision is made from the subject, never from the category — hotels, residences, and other places to dwell. It settles the palette, the type, and how every photograph is lit before a single section gets drawn.

The signature

Every site in the collection has to earn one interaction that could belong to nothing else it sells. Here that is Sumitsuke 墨付け — the marking. It is built first, and everything else is arranged around it.

See it working

The site is live and behaves — the signature is not a video of an idea. Open it and use it.
